Grilled Peaches

Peach season is one of my favorite times of the year. Nothing says summer like a delicious, warm peach cooked on the grill.

This recipe for grilled peaches is not only delicious, it’s versatile as well. The sauce is a perfect combination of rich, sweet, and a hint of tart. It feels fancy and elevated, but it only requires 2 ingredients and a few extra minutes of your time. Have a sweet tooth? These peaches make for a tasty dessert served up with some vanilla bean ice cream. Want something with an extra bit of oomph at dinner? Serve these as a sweet side dish. Need to take a great appetizer to a party? Cut these grilled peaches into wedges and top with strips of prosciutto for an awesome appetizer.

The possibilities really are endless with these peaches!

Quick note: Make sure to use firm peaches for this recipe. They will cook up better and hold their shape. Soft peaches are more likely to fall apart on the grill.

How to Grill Peaches

If you’ve never grilled peaches before, it’s time to fire up that grill and give them a try! They’ll be ready in under 10 minutes, and you’ll have a sweet, juicy peach ready for the eatin’! Scroll below for a full, printable recipe card with ingredients, instructions, and nutrition facts.

  1. Preheat the grill. Begin by firing up the ol’ grill and get the temperature running at 450 degrees F.
  2. Make the cherry balsamic glaze. Bring the balsamic vinegar and dark sweet cherries to a boil on the stove top. Reduce the heat and simmer until the sauce is a thin, syrupy consistency. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Grill the peaches. Place the peach halves cut side down on the hot grill and cook for 3-4 minutes. (rotate after 2 minutes to give your peaches some gorgeous grill marks). Next, turn the peaches skin side down on the grill and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. The peaches should be softer and warmed throughout. Remove the peaches to a serving platter.
  4. Give them some glaze! Drizzle the grilled peaches with the cherry balsamic glaze and garnish with basil leaves. Serve immediately.

These peaches can be eaten as a side or dessert (or both!). They’re also delicious as a quick snack when you need something sweet and delicious. Since they cook so quickly, you can make them just about anytime you’re having a hankering for peaches.

How Long to Grill Peaches

It only takes 6-8 minutes to fully grill peaches. Grill the peaches cut side down for about 4 minutes and then skin side down for 3-4 more minutes. If you’re going for those gorgeous grill marks (I know I always am!) then rotate the peaches cut side down after two minutes.

You can always play around with this time to get your peaches exactly to your liking. The goal with grilling peaches is to help soften the peaches and make them sweeter without them turning to a mushy mess.

  • Preheat the grill. Preheat your grill to 450 degrees F. Ensure your grill grates are clean and free of any other food remnants.

  • Make the balsamic glaze. In a medium saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and cherry halves. Turn the heat to medium high and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until the vinegar has reduced to a slightly thin syrup consistency. Turn off the heat and set aside, the sauce will thicken as it cools.

  • Grill the peaches. Brush the cut sides of each peach with the melted butter. Place the cut sides of the the peaches down onto the preheated grill grates and grill (without shuffling around or moving the peaches) for 3-4 minutes (rotate the peaches after 2 minutes if you want some gorgeous grill marks on them). Carefully flip the peaches onto the skin side and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. The peaches should have nice grill marks and be noticeably softer.

  • Drizzle with cherry balsamic glaze and serve. Transfer the peach halves to your serving platter and drizzle with the cherry balsamic sauce. Roll the basil leaves and slice them into a thin chiffonade and sprinkle on top of the peaches. Serve as is (or with burrata cheese) for a sweet and tangy side dish, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious dessert.
